I won, I won!

Before I tell you what I won, I need to fill in the back story!

I follow a LOT of blogs online and I have a long list of must-see sites bookmarked from over the years.  Some would think this is time consuming and talk about me behind my back of how they can’t believe I spend “all that time online.”  Let me first say, it’s not time consuming if you know how to do it efficiently and use the right tools (hello, Google Reader I love you!).  It’s by far the easiest (imo) blog reader out there.  You can organize things into categories based on the blog.  So I have them in these categories:

  • Design
  • Parenting
  • Deals/Coupons
  • Kids Gear & Reviews
  • Gardening
  • Family & Friends

Secondly, I do most of “all that time online” at night after the kids are in bed, during a nap time or first thing in the morning.  Periodically I’ll look at things during the day but usually very briefly.  I spend lots of that “quality” time with the boys, don’t you fret!

Last but not least, it pays off in big ways sometimes!!!!!

I read on a blog about another blogger doing a contest thing for the month of May featuring various photographers from all over.  She would post a state and a photographer that wants to offer up a photography session as a prize.  You post why you want to win the photography package or nominate someone to win.  Then the winner(s) would be selected by the photographer.    I’ve been watching it for a while now and saw Oregon come up so I entered.

Of course if you know us, you know the troubles we’ve had getting family photography done.  Sure, we could portrait studio it and hope for the best but what I really wanted was something natural, outdoorsy,  just us interacting together as a family.  I have more pictures than probably anyone realizes of the boys.  (Patrick bought me an external hard drive just for my pictures when Braysen was a little guy if that tells you anything. haha)  I cherish those way more than the posed studio pictures because they look like themselves.  I’d rather have a million pictures of them in their environment then tote them off every month to get posed pictures.  I realize some really like to take their kids off to get pictures every month and put them in every possible outfit and get those posed shots.  It’s just not my favorite type of photography is all.  Just my personal opinion there of course!

So when I saw this contest and entered, I was excited to see a photographer that had natural looking shots.  Photography where we could be a family and just get our pictures taken!  I honestly forgot about entering it but I was checking my google reader thing today saw my name on the list of this last group of winners!!! I had to go back and double check that it was my comment that won!!  I contacted the photographer as noted in the contest and we are working on a date.

See, sometimes taking “all that time online” pays off!!!

Ju Ju Be Giveaway!

So you know me and these mom/baby/parenting sites that I love to visit for all the greatest latest products or just talking kids stuff.   One of the sites I’ve mentioned before on here is Baby Wears Prada which is one of those fun sites.  I admit to stumbling my way there in the mornings while at work to pass a few minutes of time oggling over some of the cute stuff they have for the kiddos!  Or late at night when procrastinating going to bed and again, oggling over cute stuff!

This brings me to this next great news from them~ they are having a Ju Ju Be Giveaway and if you know me and my fascination with these bags then you can understand why I’m sending you all over there to enter!  If you want to see how cool of bags they have, come over :) and I’ll show you!  Honest, I think they are a lot different then the average Winnie the Pooh diaper bag.  They just make sense…organization, cute prints or solids, great material, so many styles and honestly they don’t look so diaperbagish that you can’t use them when the kids are older!  I’ve gone through my share of bags…I’m kind of an admitted bagholic (lack the funds to really go into crazybaglady status but I’m close!

With that note, wander yourself over to Baby Wears Prada and enter.  But even if you don’t want to enter, keep your eyes peeled on this site.  You might be adding it to a guilty pleasure list like I have!

(ps.  I am going to eventually make a post about things other then bags..I promise!)

Chaos!

So I’m laying here on the bed, home from work early because I hurt my back and am awaiting my chiropractor appointment this afternoon.  I’m done window shopping online, checking message boards for bargains and decided that I should update this blog thing! I had great intentions on writing a lot or at least posting pics often but instead I just make quick posts to facebook and neglect this. I’ll try harder I promise!

Lots has gone on! I went back to work a few weeks ago. All is going smoothly there and it’s nice to be back. School is back in full swing to that means no more nice parking spot *cry*, walking farther in the rain! It also means students stumbling into my office lost! It means the Professors, that I actually do miss from time to time, reappear from their breaks.

The kids are taking the new daycare better. Braysen LOVES it! He comes home beat tired and when he doesn’t fight us on naps he typically takes a nice long one. You can tell he’s playing and having fun because he tells me “have fun at Kim’s house”. He is Mr. Artist lately, loves to draw (even managed to get Patricks fairly new flatscreen tv the other morning…OOPS!) He tells me he’s drawing snakes, airplanes, helicopters, happy faces, tick tocks and many other objects. His circles look really good though (proud mom comment there!). He also is big into colors and shapes of things. We are always asking him what colors things are or what shapes and how many things he has. He seems to have those things down pretty well.  He is also into trains big time.  I mean the kid has loved anything with wheels for as long as I can remember but now he likes the whole train and train track building thing.

Merrick is 4 months.  Can you believe he’s already 4 months? He had a hard time at first with taking a bottle at daycare but seems to be better. Although, he doesn’t like to be put down for them which is kind of bothering at times. I feel bad for them and I feel bad for him. He gets put down all the time here, whether it be on his tummy or back, playmat, bouncing seat ..here there or everywhere! In fact, he scootches OFF his playmat now! No longer immobile, he’s off! He arches himself OUT of his bouncer so guess we need to start strapping him down! He rolls this or that way depending on what he wants. He also is grabbing things and putting them in his mouth. He’s growing like a weed, cooing REALLY loud and is the funniest little man.

Lots has been going on over the past few weeks but I just can’t seem to get myself to write.  Threw a baby shower for friend/neighbor Katie who is due any day now!  Went to a birthday party for 2 of the little girls in the neighborhood that turned 3.  Have been trying to get into the swing of water aerobics when not in pain with my back or when I’m not busy doing other stuff.  Would LOVE to lose more of my baby weight!  Had a girls night last week with some neighbors that I am just getting to know better and it was a fun night.  Had a bbq with some of our friends over the Labor Day weekend.  Painted the great room a different color, the “mint” green wasn’t working for me anymore.  Sam (a good friend of ours, affectionately known as Uncle Sam) came over to help us!!!  We <3 him.

Well, guess I’ll get ready to go pick up the kids at daycare and then hopefully lay low until 2:30 when I have my appt.

Someday soon I’ll do an update on my Fisher Price thing and some other stuff that is more like fun mom things!

Oh and I won a pair of baby legs from that site I linked on here last time!  SO COOL!  I NEVER win stuff and was very surprised!  Plus, I just love baby legs.
