Life and times with a toddler…
Braysen stands at the bottom of the stairs, looking at me impatiently saying “baba come upstairs wit me”. I find myself in his room with this little 2 1/2 year old boy pulling me down to the ground, yanking my arm, telling me “sit down wit me baba”. He flips the “switch” on the Geotrax train remote and plops in my lap then he takes my arms to wrap around him like a bear hug and he hangs onto them with dear life, holding me in place so I can’t escape. I sit and watch as the train goes round and round. He has all these funny little words that jibber jabber out of his mouth…”train go round and round”, “oh shucks” when it falls of the track, “go down the hill” as it curves around “one, two, tree” as he counts things around the track, “under da bridge” and “through da barn” as it passes by various structures. We can sit there for an hour if I had the patience for it
and when I do try to stand up, his arms clasp tighter on me so I can’t let go of him. I tell him I love him and kiss his cheek or tickle him to break his intense train concentration.
I wouldn’t trade a moment like that for anything….boy is he growing up fast.
Fave books~ Ten in the Bed, Goodnight Moon, Mr. Brown Bear Can You Moo?, Fish book (a Costco book that has little foam puzzle pieces that reveal different things under them), Foot Book by Dr. Seuss.
