Camping!

Monday, July 23rd, 2007

Heading off camping on Thursday and cannot wait! We’ll be going with 4 other families and it’ll be the first “vacation” type of thing we’ve done in ages. It’ll be nice to get away and relax! We bought a new tent so we’d have more room and this one has a front screened porch along with a huge room that can be divided into 2 rooms. We are bringing Neeva with us and her crate, along with kiddos pack n play so those will take up some serious room. This tent should be perfect! We have been gathering up our camping stuff, making some shopping runs for misc. stuff we needed and then we’ll do a grocery trip before we actually go. Each family is going to be doing a breakfast or dinner so that should work out pretty easy and we’ll just have to do our own lunches. SOOOO excited!

So hey it’s a happy post, but I do have happy posts on the previous page and tons in the past. *shrugs*

Labor Day and beyond!

Tuesday, September 12th, 2006

We had such a long long Labor Day weekend full of lots of site-seeing trips and felt like talking about them & of course posting some pics!

After picking up my friend at the airport Friday nite, we woke up Saturday to start our wine touring day. She had a list of some wineries she wanted to hit and we attempted to get at least some of them in.

These are the ones we went to:
Adelsheim
Willakenzie
Duck Pond
Tori Mor
Lange
Sokol Blosser
Cooper Mountain

I was going to type up things on the various ones we visited but i’ll do that some other time. We did finally join up the Sokol Blosser wine club and they’ll just will call us whenever our wine is ready to pick up. We of course love Evolution but we found a new blend they have that we really liked so we bought a bottle of that with our 2 Evolution bottles. In the end, Rain ended up with I think 9 bottles going back with her and we had 5. We are planning on going to Cooper Mt. the 17th for a harvest event and may have to get another bottle that day because we didn’t buy the Pinot i’m in love with there. More to come on the wineries when I have time!

Sunday we went to the coast and hit up Moe’s for some chowder! Monday was our Gorge / Falls day which was beautiful. Then we had a bbq over at a neighbors house that evening. Rain left Tues. morning. I went high chair shopping with my mother in-law Wed. morning. My grandparents showed up Wed. afternoon. Friday my mom showed up :)

Here’s a nice family shot from the coast

We started kiddo on solid foods this last week. I’m making his own baby food because well it’s easy and good for him. I started of course rice cereal then we introduced him to sweet potatoes! He LOVES both so far!

Goofy pic of him eatting cereal for the 1st time! We were trying to catch some nasty eww face or a mess but he didn’t do any of that really ..yet that is!

I’m exhausted from all the excitement lately! We are going to do a housewarming party at the end of the month but giving ourselves a few weeks break to get some stuff done and relax a bit, if possible!

almost!

We have another coat to do on the top green and then touch up to smooth out the border some (textured walls suck to paint nice clean edges with i’m learning, the paint runs under the damn tape!) After that it’s time to do our stencil quote in the spot above his crib, finish up the ceiling with clouds and see if my animal stencil things will work for his border or not. Thennn we might just have a nursery out of this whole process!! (better late then never I keep telling myself, although it’s still sad I’m doing this after he’s already here and didn’t get to do it before he arrived!)

This is of the nook area where his changing table dresser thing will go. You can see the different greens and then the ceiling is a pretty blue that we’ll paint clouds on here soon!

Next weekend my best friend from KC arrives. We just had company leave today that stayed with us for the weekend, was good times and great to catch up. We went to the little girl down the streets b-day party briefly on Saturday to give her our gift. She’s a cutie named Isabella and turned 2! Stopped by to see the in-laws yesterday, had a glass of wine and picked up some things they had gotten us at Costco! Busy days I tell ya!

:) more to come in the future!

long weekends away

Jul 22, 2003
I flew out this last Friday morning to Colorado to do some wedding planning but also go to a family reunion. Thought it would be perfect timing for me to get things done and see some family I haven’t seen since I was around 12 or 13. Little did I know I would be running around with my head chopped off and very lil time to think. It was definitely not a vacation style weekend.

Friday I arrived in Denver around 9ish am and was picked up by my mom. We started making our way downtown only to run into major traffic due to a gasoline spill from a truck. Welp finally we reach downtown to her office which sits on 16th Street Mall and I head upstairs to get printed up mapquest maps to my step-mom and dads hotel, along with my photographer and also make some phone calls to friends who I was meeting up for lunch with. Coincidently my photographer was next to my parents hotel and thankfully since I had asked my step-mom to go with me to meet her.

I call Liz and head over to her house to pick her up for lunch with her and Kristy. They both worked with me at my last job in Denver b4 my mom. It was a nice relaxing lunch but very hot as we decided to sit outside on the patio. I wasn’t planning on having a drink but somehow I always end up having a beer or 2 with liz =) After lunch I realize that i’m a LONG ways from my parents hotel so away I rush across town, calling the photographer on the way to say i’ll be a wee lil late. I pick up my step-mom and my lil sisters decide they want to go also. The photographer was VERY personable, cheerful.

to be continued……….
