Got word on the 1st job with the Fire Dept. doing accounting. Well, the good news was I did make it into the top 5 to start (they I guess had 14 applicants but only took 5 to test) but I did not make it to the final 2. I kind of knew I blew some of the accounting & medical billing part. *sighs* Now, here’s hoping I can get good news from the other job or it’s back to square one. The other one is way more interesting to me and I’d LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE to have it. *sighs* I just can’t help but feel somewhat stressed about all of this going back to work stuff because finding a part-time job isn’t easy. *sighs*

Kiddo is either seriously fussy tonight from teething or something else is wrong. I hope it’s just him finally popping up a tooth. Wonder how much or should I say little sleep i’ll get. I’ve been getting at most 2-3 hours the past 4 nites. *sighs*

ok, for my geek side! I am so going to get that jinx infant creeper (dora sent me the link again tonight which reminded us) but we wanted to wait until he could wear it for more then a month or 2.
I neeed this bumper sticker..god i’m a geek!

Happy Halloween and good job news!!!

I took the kiddo to Patrick’s work today for a Halloween party they had and everyone was amused by his costume :) I know he’s not old enough to trick or treat but we got so excited to pick out his costume we had to share it with everyone! Before everyone started trick or treating we took him over to a few of the neighbors houses to see him dressed up! Then the onslaught of kids started and omgosh did we have a ton of kids. We are talking close to $50 worth of candy …… Now here’s my rants from a few different situations today ~ kids that don’t dress up and go trick or treating, kids that don’t say trick or treat but speak spanish to me, kids that come back by the house for 2nd’s or 3rds thinking we’d be fooled, when you tell kids to take a few they reach in for 3 handfuls and you proceed to say “just take a few” in your cutest voice as they continue to take more, parents that trick or treat for their own candy…wtf, parents that drive around their jacked up SUV’s blaring out spanish music back and forth on our street as their kids go house to house and lastly..kids that even though there is clearly a taped LARGE piece of paper over the doorbell button that says “please knock, baby sleeping” proceed to ring the doorbell!! Besides all of that, I LOVE seeing the kids costumes and handing out candy. We were watching last weeks Battlestar “On Demand” in between doorknockings because we were at the pumpkin carving party thing last week and Patrick was ansy to see what we missed!

Here’s our squidkid (as patrick called him today at his work) but he’s actually an Octopus!

Oh and on the job front~ I got a call today while I was out from the City about one of the jobs and then when I got home another call from the other city job!!!! I have an interview for the one Nov. 8th and will find out tomorrow when the other will get scheduled!! Basically, I applied for 2 different city jobs, 2 different departments and types of work/job duties and they both had nasty long city applications but also had written examinations. I’m just happy to be a “candidate” so far and am hoping hoping that I can at least get an offer from one. They are sooo incredibly perfect for me. We are talking 19 hours a week and paying well, working for the city and ohhh i’d love to just work 19 hours leaving me time for kiddo!!! The job duties for both would fit me just fine and I do have experience in either, even though both are drastically different types of jobs. *crosses my fingers*

Well off to cuddle up!
Hope everyone had a safe halloween!

The most wonderful men in my life (all are thumbnails so you can click to get the bigger sizes)
The Beaver Believer t-shirt is thanks to his Uncle Justin (a beaver fan) & Meredith in Reno!

1) like father like son 2) goofy smile 3) tired of the camera and lastly 4) I shall EAT the pumpkin

Busy weekend to say the least! We got lots of misc. stuff done though, like cleaning the garage enough to get cars in there! We also got some stuff ready for the neighborhood garage sale next week, hung up kiddos extra closet shelf, rehung the wine bar shelf that I knocked loose with my head, hung up the flag pole holder for outside (it seems the big thing is to have flag poles with seasonal or sports team flags up in this neighborhood and we had a holder from Patrick’s parents so wala) and I made stuffed green peppers with a cobbler for desert.

Today was spent getting Merlin his shots, meeting up with the in-laws @ Starbucks then we ran amuck to Hillsboro for some shopping or window shopping mostly. We did pick up some bargains @ Kohls (like 70% off Columbia men’s shorts for Patrick, and 50% off Fisher Price / Playskool toys..although I only got Braysen some weird texture balls since they didn’t have the Drop n Roar Dinosaur I want for him grrrr).

We did really go to Hillsboro to hit up REI. We wanted to check out the packs for carrying Kiddo (he’s almost getting too heavy for my Bjorn carrier), a trailer for my bike for Kiddo and Neeva’s pack. We looked at and put on the different packs for carrying kiddo and we settled on the Kelty Pathfinder. We are holding off on dishing out the dough now but I imagine soon we’ll either hope someone gets it for us, we get REI gift cards or we suck up and pay for it! The bike thing is going to wait until next spring / summer but I can’t wait to pull him along on bike rides. We’ve been wanting to get Neeva girl a pack for a while and I don’t know when Patrick is going to order it.

Kelty Pathfinder Pack, Burley trailer and Neeva’s Ruff pack

Well off to bed, kiddo asleep in his crib early and think we’ll go watch Iron Chef!

6 months old

Wednesday, September 27th, 2006

Munchkin is 6 months old as of this last Saturday. We had his doc. appt. yesterday, got himself 4 more shots :( Never easy that’s for darn sure!

27 1/2 inches long – 90% (tall and skinny like his dad)
just short of 15 lbs. – ~15 % (dropped a little, to be expected doc said as they start becoming more active ie. crawling)
16 something head – 25 % (staying the same %)

He’s a healthy little man and eating solids happily. I’m still making his own food and have quite the mixture in different freezer bags atm: sweet potatoes, avocados, applesauce, bananas and have carrots in the fridge ready to go.

The doc said that if he didn’t know better, he’d have thought this was a 9 month visit because Braysen is meeting all his 9 month developmental milestones already!!! He’s crawling / cruising, he’s sitting up by himself straight / getting to sitting by himself, and the big shocker really is he’s pulling to a stand against furniture by himself. (something the doc was really shocked by!)

All in all a good visit. I take him in again Nov. 2nd for a flu shot and then won’t be seeing him until 9 months.

Life at home is chaotic to say in one word. Patrick is sick and working too much imo. Kiddo is going through a growth spurt and his eatting / sleep routines are a nightmare. We are in the process of a few different painting jobs, hanging up things still, getting stuff unpacked, trying to clear space for the cars to park in the garage, getting ready for a housewarming party and a whole slew of other things. We are also watching his parents dog for 2 weeks while they are up visiting his brother in Wisconsin.

~sigh, need to get kiddo from the swing into bed

Labor Day and beyond!

Tuesday, September 12th, 2006

We had such a long long Labor Day weekend full of lots of site-seeing trips and felt like talking about them & of course posting some pics!

After picking up my friend at the airport Friday nite, we woke up Saturday to start our wine touring day. She had a list of some wineries she wanted to hit and we attempted to get at least some of them in.

These are the ones we went to:
Adelsheim
Willakenzie
Duck Pond
Tori Mor
Lange
Sokol Blosser
Cooper Mountain

I was going to type up things on the various ones we visited but i’ll do that some other time. We did finally join up the Sokol Blosser wine club and they’ll just will call us whenever our wine is ready to pick up. We of course love Evolution but we found a new blend they have that we really liked so we bought a bottle of that with our 2 Evolution bottles. In the end, Rain ended up with I think 9 bottles going back with her and we had 5. We are planning on going to Cooper Mt. the 17th for a harvest event and may have to get another bottle that day because we didn’t buy the Pinot i’m in love with there. More to come on the wineries when I have time!

Sunday we went to the coast and hit up Moe’s for some chowder! Monday was our Gorge / Falls day which was beautiful. Then we had a bbq over at a neighbors house that evening. Rain left Tues. morning. I went high chair shopping with my mother in-law Wed. morning. My grandparents showed up Wed. afternoon. Friday my mom showed up :)

Here’s a nice family shot from the coast

We started kiddo on solid foods this last week. I’m making his own baby food because well it’s easy and good for him. I started of course rice cereal then we introduced him to sweet potatoes! He LOVES both so far!

Goofy pic of him eatting cereal for the 1st time! We were trying to catch some nasty eww face or a mess but he didn’t do any of that really ..yet that is!

I’m exhausted from all the excitement lately! We are going to do a housewarming party at the end of the month but giving ourselves a few weeks break to get some stuff done and relax a bit, if possible!
