new car and busy last week!

So going back to last week ~

Will cut this so you don’t have to read the whole thing unless you want to!
Braysen’s big boy bed ramblings
We get a call on Thursday telling us that Braysen’s big boy bed set is in and can we go pick it up on Friday. I’m freaking out a bit because that is the next day and we weren’t expecting it until this week so we were going to find the mattress over the weekend still. I didn’t have Braysen’s sheets from Pottery Barn kids picked up yet, didn’t have his mattress protector pad bought, his bed rails bought …basically we had stuff to do this last weekend before the bed was here! Sooo Thursday night, my father in-law came over on short notice (very nice of him) and watched kiddo so we could run into town (I say this because we live in the rinky dink stick town of wine country and basically need to drive closer into Portland for stores like Mattress places!). We head in and go to the first place and then decide that we got a good idea of what we were going to end up paying for a twin mattress and I would look closer in McMinnville (town right next to us and where we do all our shopping, park visits etc.). After work Friday I hit up all the various furniture stores in town and found him a mattress that wasn’t overpriced for a kiddo going from crib to mattress and wouldn’t need some fancy pillowtop!

We were lucky also because we just sold our 2 extra-long twin beds that my in-laws had given us a few years ago to use in the guest room. We have since got our new king bedroom set and our old queen moved into the guest room so those were basically taking up room in the future nursery. They needed evicted so we could put the crib in there! (I would’ve kept them but all cute kids bedding comes in twin sizes only, not extra long!). So the $$ from selling the beds paid for his new mattress.

I noticed that the bedding I wanted from PBK(pottery barn kids) says “internet/catalog exclusive” and I freak because 1) I don’t want to pay shipping and 2) I want it here like now! I see online some other cute bedding that is on their clearance that would work too and know that sometimes the stores have those in so I call to see if they have the airplanes but nope all sold out and I ask if by chance they have the “Christopher’s Construction Truck” sheet set and they do!!!!!! I’m thrilled and they put the stuff on hold for the weekend. I got Patrick to pick it up while out getting the furniture with our neighbor so we killed 2 birds with one stone and I didn’t have to make the 45 minute journey into Washington Square just for sheets!

Friday I also got some % off coupons for both Overstock and Penny’s so we found the mattress protector we wanted on Overstock for his bed and applied the 15% off thingy for it! I was on a roll. Lastly there was the issue of the bed rails. I was trying to research and find out which bed rails are safest, best etc. (Everyone that knows me knows I research like EVERYTHING kid related to find safety stuff, latest gadgets & deals. Seriously, I have bookmarks up the wazooo on random kids stuff and have written reviews on like everything we own LOL..yes, I’m that dorky when it comes to kiddo gear.) Anyhow, while searching for the bed rails, I came across this site that sells a new type of bed rails that aren’t metal so they are safer and they are portable (we can take with us to hotels, when we visit family etc), are cheaper and have got GREAT reviews! Soo I went ahead and placed my order for them.

Everything I ordered should be here this week (the mattress gets in by Thursday) and then this weekend we start the Big Boy Bed transition. Oh that should be interesting. I’m waiting to see if my little man that does SOOO good at going to bed in his crib handles the new twin bed as well. Everyone is always telling us what a great sleeper he is and how good he is at going down at night so I’m hoping that doesn’t change anytime soon! (I am envisioning the worst though!) Pics incoming for his new room once we get the furniture set up. Plus, pics of the nursery since I’ll finally have the crib moved in there and some other stuff. Although I have a long ways to go on getting it decorated as we are stretched thin trying to get all the baby stuff we need still and then w/ the new car..yah…Braysen’s bedroom won’t be decked out in his truck & car decor for a while yet nor will the baby (Merrick’s) room be decked out in his boat / pirate / nautical decor quite yet!!

So that brings me to the other news…..NEW CAR!!!!!! We pick it up tomorrow afternoon so I’ll do a post about it then w/ pics :P I’ll leave ya hanging for now but it’s a 2008 Buick Enclave and I can’t tell you how nice it’ll be to have a bigger car for the 2 kiddos. My Mazda 6 just wouldn’t cut it! Story to come soon about the long Saturday fun and why we are getting it now instead of June (like originally planned).
