oooo patemm pad!

Thursday, July 13th, 2006

I just got one of these ordered today!! I’ve been eyeing them since I was prego and my mother in-law thinks they are cool too so we got me one! My pad that came with my diaper bag had already torn by the velcro area plus it was a pain in the butt to shove in and out of my diaper bag. I wanted to get one of these but the price is a bit steep so we had put it off so far. She came over today with cheesecake from Cheesecake Factory, some new clothes from the Carter’s outlet for kiddo and told me to order one of these!! Yipeeeeee!!!

linky to show you what it is:
Patemm Pad

I got my appointment set up for the blinds people to come out the 28th to measure for our new blinds. Our washer & dryer was ordered last night and is coming also on the 28th. I am going to spend that day at the house painting kiddos room while everything is measured/installed etc. I can’t wait to decorate his nursery!!!

Well back to my phone calls to get utilities and stuff transferred and more appointments made for the house! Oh, Patrick was also looking last night at what kind of tree we want to plant in our backyard. I think we’ve decided on a Red Maple. I forget the type of one it is but it’s really pretty :) Patrick made a sweet comment a week ago when talking of planting a tree in the backyard. He said it would be “braysen’s growing tree” and would grow with him. He wants to put a bench under it someday and sit under the shade of the tree. I think it’s cute and I love trees. I’m going to talk him into letting me getting some pretty flowery bushes/plants and maybe some roses yet though! Plus, I adore those hanging flower baskets! We’ll see, maybe we’ll window shop at the nursery this weekend!

men that can cook, more so my husband the chef! Patrick made stuffed wild pacific salmon with a lobster/cream cheese/bread crumbs and some herb combo. He also made some potatoes that were sliced up and breaded with a similar combo. We opened up a bottle of Chateau St. Michelle Riesling to top it off. We drank our Ravenswood the other day with our bbq sadly cause I was craving a nice red. Hubby is an excellent chef but his specialty is fish imo. He cooks macadamia nut encrusted halibut, marionberry glazed salmon and all sorts of yummy stuff. It’s so nice living in the northwest and getting such fresh fish. We have turned into such fish eaters up here! His mom has been stocking up on her salmon supply that she buys from a lady at the farmers market in McMinnville. She bought me a fillet of it when I went to the farmers market a few weeks ago and we just got the time to cook it. We were going to invite friends over but we had Sam over last night for movies after dragging him off to look at the house with us.

Anyhow, we went to look @ the house yesterday and I took pics of the fixtures that were hanging!

I also started up our new excel spreadsheet of “house projects / wants”. We had one similar when we bought our first house where we put our needs & wants in a spreadsheet. We had them in order of what we needed/wanted to get done in the house with an estimated cost. Anytime we had extra money or wanted to work on a house project i’d look and see what we still wanted to get. This list though is more long term as we are planning on this house for a long time and not on the 5 year plan like our last “starter” home. We did measure some of the windows to get an estimated cost for blinds. I’m going to call sometime this week and schedule an appointment for the day or 2 after our closing with the blinds place so they can come professionally measure and help us order them / get them installed. It’s insane how much blinds cost..the ones I REALLY REALLY like are way above our budget so we are thinking honeycomb ones that you can raise from the bottom up or lower from top down. They are pretty nifty! I liked our wood blinds in the Nevada house but I think these look nice too so we’ll see. Woods are cheaper for us but I dunno yet so, only time will tell! SOOOO many things to do in just 2 weeks! Packing, ordering my swivel glider rock chair thingy, ordering our washer/dryer so it arrives on time or close to, setting up a blinds appointment, meeting with the landscaper and getting all our utilities set to transfer.

Getting things done with a kid are 10x as hard also!

Oh oh, my best friend is coming in town for Labor Day and i’m mucho excited that we’ll have a house / place for her to sleep instead of the couch LOL. Plus, she is Braysen’s unofficial godmother. (She’s not catholic and since 1 of the godparents need to be catholic, her and Koby (our unofficial godfather) both aren’t catholic so we call them the unofficial.

~well going to watch a movie with hubby and hope that kiddo gives us a good peaceful movie watching nite! I didn’t get to watch much of last nights lol.

house is going to be ours!

Friday, July 7th, 2006

Well our approval stuff came back and it looks like our closing date is July 25th! (we thought it was the 27th but we were wrong.) The ironic part is my mom is closing on her new house in Montana on the 24th. We both were renting while selling our houses in other states. She was selling hers in Colorado. Our offers came within a few days of each other and our closings of our sold houses happened within a few days of each other and NOW we are closing on new houses just a day apart.

So i’ll walk ya through the house pics! It isn’t done yet as you’ll see in the pics but it’s getting closer! (underline words are obviously links to pics)

As you look from the street you can see houses in one direction and then the other direction up the hill is the clubhouse with pool, fitness & business center.

Now entering the house you’ll see a hallway with arches to the left. If you looked above while in the foyer you’ll see the upstairs landing. There is a formal living room, which will be our library/study/reading room where we someday will put a little game table for chess/checkers and reading chairs. This room is connected to the formal dining room which has another arched opening. This is the view from dining room to the nook/kitchen. You can also see a linen closet & where the powder room will be. The next arched room is the great room with the fireplace (mantel will be installed later). Off to the right of the great room is the nook and kitchen. The appliances aren’t in yet but are black (wanted stainless but these will match our stainless fridge so np!) This is a close up of the granite (I would’ve liked something with blue or green in it but hey it’s still pretty and Patrick likes it better then black.) and then we have some glass front cabinets that are really pretty! This is a pic of the wood floors that are from the entry thru the hall to the nook / kitchen. There is a granite counter top ledge in an arched opening between the great room and the kitchen acting as a breakfast bar where we will put some stools. Off the kitchen is hall to the garage and the door to the left is a nice walk in pantry that will have the glass front door. You can see how the stairs go up in the middle of the house here also. It’s kind of an interesting view from below looking up and looking down.

As you go upstairs you’ll see the upstairs landing. There’s a loft area which will be Patrick’s office / our computer area. Hopefully we’ll be able to do some built in corner desk unit at some point. The laundry room is upstairs also and i’m going to get cabinets put in once we get our new washer & dryer in. The bedrooms are in the 4 corners of the upstairs which is kind of cool. One of them will be Braysen’s room, one will be a guest room and the last one will be a future kids room but in the meantime will be our workout room with our elipitical and weights. There is a nice hall bath with 2 sinks.

Our master bedroom has a fireplace in the corner that will have the tv hook ups above it and they’ll install a mantle yet around it. This is the other window that will be above our bed (I kind of think it’s cute!) We have a long wide walk in-closet that isn’t done yet. Here’s our master bath with a separate shower and a soaking samish spa tub. The samish tub has little things on the bottom that you press a button and it bubbles up. It’s not a jetted tub *sighs* like they have in some of the models but it’s definitely better then my old small tub! They tiled the bathroom floor and the counters which are both pretty neutral colored. They added this faucet / fixture package to the house which to my suprise I love and it looks so elegant. In doing so they changed all our light fixtures to match and they are SOO pretty. We walked the house yesterday while signing more papers and they had the lights installed this time and WOW WOW!! The entry lights, dining lights, bathrooms lights …wow, all were just stunning! They had our carpet in yesterday too which is a neutral color and will work. They have still a lot to do :) but it’s only 2 weeks away..EIEIEIE I have to pack up this apartment all over again! Yuck!!! I feel like we’ve just moved and moved all over :) but this is definitely worth it!

This is our backyard, it is huggge for the area we are in (trust me on this)! We have a small covered patio too that hopefully we can extend someday with a deck or something to entertain on. We are wrapping our fencing / landscaping and ac into the loan though so our backyard won’t be a pile of weeds. They sod, sprinkler, mulch the borders and plant 12 bushes/plants so at least that’s a start. I have HUGE plans for the backyard.

We aren’t going to do much to the house as far as paint and other things. Partially because the house already has the upgraded craftsman trim package with 2-tone paints in the rooms etc. but also because well we are saving money. We are going to buy our new washer & dryer, thanks to Patrick working for GE, the discount more then helps us out. We are going to buy my glider/rocker/swivel chair though for the nursery that i’ve been waiting to get although we aren’t sure on which color yet!!! The one room I will be painting immediately is guppymans room!! I’m going to do it in a green tone of some sort to be neutral in case we have a girl next :) and this will remain the nursery and he’ll go into a big boy room when that time comes. I also am going to buy some chalkboard paint to have fun with. We are kind of on the plan “we’ll decorate as we have money and we find out what we want to do with all the rooms!”. I’m somewhat more excited to plant some pretty flowers / bushes / herb garden and do walking stones with pond & waterfall in the backyard then do the inside yet. Not that the inside isn’t fun but that’s stuff i’ll do in the winter! This house is one we’ll be growing into for years and years so we’ll have plenty of time to figure out how we want rooms to look.

Well this was longer then I thought but I was so excited about the house so I had to share!!! Enjoy the pictures. There is a ton more on my gallery if the boredom or curiosity hits you.
