smiling @ my bug!

Sunday, May 14th, 2006

Semi-smile at his bug hanging.  He was smiling at it for a good bit but I suck and didn’t put the card back in the Rebel…OOPSIES!
Today we enjoyed a nice lunch at the Cheesecake Factory and hit Babies R Us for a few things then did a nice afternoon walk with the kiddo in his stroller.  Tomorrow is the mother’s day brunch @ the GV pub with Patrick’s parents.  Next weekend we are hosting a BBQ for some of our friends, sort of an apartment warming of sorts since we finally have settled in and have a place to invite people over.  We had friends over last week to watch movies but that was kind of last minute.  This is more of a afternoon / evening eat / drinkfest!

The weekend after that is my birthday / our 5 year anniv. (since we first met)/ memorial day weekend and I think we are driving up to Seattle area to go to Ikea.  (sad we are driving up there just for Ikea, they aren’t getting one in Portland until I think the end of this year or something).  The 31st my family arrrives from KC and are staying until the 4th.  June 9th we are going to my cousin’s graduation party in Sandy.  Sometime in June / July we have all sorts of friends coming in or planning on.  August is his 10 yr. high school reunion and a family reunion of mine.  This summer could be very busy!!

P.S. I forgot how much I hate apartment living for 1 big reason:  other people bitching about every little thing.  The first nite we moved in, Patrick accidently parked in the wrong carport spot.  At around 11 or so that evening we got a knock on the door asking us to move our car.  The woman that lives above us was the leasing person that checked us into our apartment and did our walk-thru so she knows we have a baby and knows we were just moving in etc.  During our walk-thru she kept telling us things about “courtesy for our neighbors” etc etc. like we’ve never lived in an apartment (even though we told her we’ve rented a many apartments over the years between the 2 of us and we even own a damn house).  She treated us like we were going to be loud, destroy the place and have never lived around others. Anyhow, today we get a note on Patrick’s car telling him that he’s not parking close enough to the pole on his side and how he’s gotten worse at his parking blah blah blah.  You know, it kind of pissed me off because at 2am or so every nite I hear them above us closing stuff, stomping around etc.  Then there’s the matter of the guy below us that introduced himself to Patrick and the guys while they were moving our things in.  He told them he hoped we were quiter then the people before us that he complained about and were kicked out.  Now, tonight here he is blaring his stereo so loud that we can feel the bass and such through our floor.  It’s vibrating my chair atm.  Patrick looked at me and goes “i really hope our house sells soon”.  It’s REALLY hard to live in apartment when you own a house!!!!!  (I won’t complain too much since it’s our own place and all though!!)

kiddo awake~ think the music below finally got to him!

IS OUR HOUSE EVER GOING TO SELL!!?!?!?!?!

Our real estate agent had an open house on Sunday but I haven’t heard how that went from Patrick so not sure if she called him or not.  I know we had interested parties the past few weeks but nothing concrete.  I know it’s being shown more now that the weather is warmer and everyone weekend isn’t full of snowy forecasts.  The house itself looks great and probably even more so now that we have moved a bunch of stuff up here to the apartment and opened it up even more.  It looks bare imo but it looks bigger without our stuff and maybe future buyers will have an easier time seeing their stuff in it!  I’m hopeful, as is Patrick, but this has takenWAY longer then we both expected and it’s a bit depressing at times.  More depressing is paying House Payment + Rent and DOUBLE utilities.  Basically flushing $$ down the tubes to keep us sane by having our own place.

Patrick keeps emailing me houses to look at or pointing me to a MLS listing for ones that he’s liked.  It’s hard to even look at those sometimes knowing we can’t do jack until the house sells.  We can’t even go in on a contigency if we like one because we have no clue how long the house will take still to sell.  I still like the houses out in Lafayette which is a new construction area but it’s kind of out in the sticks but it is wine country at least!!  They definitely are better bang for your buck types, we are talking 2880 – 3000 sf. new construction houses for the same price we’ll get a 1900-2000 sf 1-5 year old house we’ll get here in the Beaverton area we have our apartment in.  We have really started liking this area more and more though, especially right by our apartment and the Bull Mountain location but it’s definitely more expensive and we won’t have quite the house here that we’d have ou in the boondocks.  I can live just fine with a smaller house as long as we have 3 bedrooms + a den (need an office) or 4 bedrooms.  We’ve come to the conclusion that we’ll probably not be in this next house long term anyhow so we can upgrade later when the next kiddo comes along or something.  (can you believe I said next kiddo? ha!)  We are really close to Patrick’s friends who we see almost every weekend if not more ..and oh, of course we are closer to the mall.  (although I have no $$ to spend at the mall!!)

Speaking of next kiddo – yes, we are going to have another but that is NOT anytime soon!  We are going to wait until Braysen is 1 1/2 or 2 then start trying again.  We like the 2-3 year age gap.  I’ve been eyeing jobs for a good while now from the State of Oregon website and have seen a few good ones in Dept. of Human Resources.  That’s the same dept. I worked in while down in Nevada so i’m going to work on my resume this weekend and think i’ll start applying to see if I get any bites.  I’m not wanting to rush off and work yet because then i’ll have to find the kiddo daycare and I really enjoy being home with him.  The job would have to pay really well for me to go back to work full time also because we’d want to make up the cost of daycare with my salary and then me make a good chunk along with it.  Otherwise, it’s really not worth me taking something just for a little extra each month.  I would like to go back to work though and part time wouldn’t be bad but finding a part time daycare for kiddo isn’t easy at his age.   I thought of getting my real estate license but i’m not 100% sure of that yet, although my uncle is a real estate agent here in Oregon and told me where I can get it done.

Still a little worried about kiddo and his possible reflux problems.  We had a bit of an easier nite with him last night but he’s just a fussmonster a lot lately and it does make me wonder if it’s reflux gone bad or just normal baby stuff.  Guess we’ll find out the 25th.

haha..took me like 2 hours to type this out because I needed to feed guppy and get him calmed down and napping again! Now to get some food in me!

fussmonster!

Tuesday, May 9th, 2006

So Braysen is going through some fussmonster stuff lately.  Our little man will be 7 weeks this Thursday and i’ve noticed the last week or 2 he’s starting to spit up more after eatting. It’s about a “mouthful” and sometimes he seems fussy or cries before he does it or when he does it. He sleeps really well during the morning / early daytime, like 2-3 stretches then eats. He really wasn’t spitting up during the day until the past few days. In the late afternoon / evenings he starts to fuss more and stays awake longer stretches. Sometimes the only thing that makes him happy is the boob :) but he almost always spits up after those feedings. Patrick is always saying “I don’t know how to make him happy or calm him” because he goes stretches of 15-30 minutes where he’s happy then he just fusses, not a screaming / bawling fuss but just spurts of crying. (we ruled out colic already).

I called the doctors today to ask them some questions and see if I needed to bring him in but we have a 2 week appt. the 25th so they’ll check him out then. For now they said he “might” have a mild reflux and told me some tips to help with that. I”m not sure if it is reflux and I hope not but at the same time it’d be nice to have something explain these fussmonster moments!

I still am not fully done with the apartment decorating ~ although we did get Braysen’s closet shelves this weekend and installed.  Sam (Patrick’s college buddy) was kidnapped by us Sunday and forced to make a Lowe’s trip and install them for me with Patrick! Ok, I didn’t force him but they did a great job!  Later that nite we had Beejay and Holly over for movies but the fussmonster was in full effect and needless to say I missed most of the movie “Hoodwinked” so now I have to rent it at a later date. Oh well, tis life of a parent hehe.

My family from KC (dad, step-mom and my 2 sisters) are coming into town at the end of the month to visit!! It’s the first time they’ve come to visit me anywhere and i’m so excited to have them meet lil guppy!!  I sent them the video of him rolling and regularly send them pics but it’s not the same as meeting him in person.  We’ll be showing them around the Oregon area too – the coast and gorge and maybe some wineries but we’ll see.  Fun times to be had i’m sure!! I’m trying to get stocked up on milk for bottles now so I don’t have to worry about feedings that much while we are out being tourists.

Here’s a pic of Braysen’s closet with his new shelves installed (I needed them so bad to add room for all his stuff!)~ the kid has more clothes then I do (and this isn’t showing the dresser full!!!!!!!!!!)

Here’s a pic of the little man that we took the other nite – his face is starting to fill out a lot lately

rolling rolling..keep on rolling!

I caught Braysen rolling on video today and sent it to some family to see.  We saw him do it 2 times in a row last night from front to back (Yah, I know that is the easy part and back to front is harder!!)  He’s been rolling a little while on the bed but I didn’t count that since I wanted him flat on the ground so last night we put him on his tummy on the little Gymini playmat thing and wala rolling!

I’m still working on unpacking and it’s a slow process but almost done I think.  This weekend we are heading to Costco with Patrick’s parents and I want to hit up Lowe’s so we can get the shelving to do the little man’s closet and organize his room.  Hopefully we’ll get some pictures up on the walls too!  Once things get decked out better i’ll post pics.

well back to the unpacking while kiddo is napping in his swing!

hugs
