So, I got the job :) I filled out paperwork on Wednesday for it. But here’s a post copied from eqpeople of my latest fun.
===

I’m so glad i’m leaving. I got told yesterday they are cutting my hours to 25, Marlas to 25 and Lorraines to 30.

Now that = 80 hours = 2 full time employees.

When I miscarried and was out they moved marla full time and gave her all my job duties (see past bitching posts). She was hired for 16 hours ONLY . 2 days a week ONLY. Now, the way I see it - she should go back to her 16 hours and I should be able to work the 34 or 35 hours.

I’ve been here for 2 years, Lorraine 8-9 months and Marla almost 3 months yet i’m taking the biggest cut off of this.

The reason why i’m slightly upset is that 1) they are making my job more miserable for what little time I have left 2) it’s obvious they got tired of me not leaving yet and decided they would help things along 3) my state paperwork is going to take up to 2 weeks so I can’t leave here yet and if I gave my notice they would just tell me to leave. (they can do that here in lovely nevada)

40 to 25 hours is a huge paycut to say the least.

oh, and the kicker is - yesterday when I mentioned to marla and lorraine how drastic of a pay cut this is Marla says to me “you aren’t the only one with bills to pay and getting your hours cut” I looked at her and said “you were hired PART TIME for 16 hours a week and I have been here for 2 years working 40 years since I was 16 pretty much unlike you” She left my office …bitch

reports from eqpeople board

So, last weeks interview went well but it wasn’t the type of job I was looking for really. Smile I’m not taking a job just to get out of my current situation, I want to make sure I find something challenging and that won’t make me board after a few months.

That brings me to today’s interview!!! It was with the Divison of Child and Family Services. I’d be working for the State of Nevada which is a very good thing Smile

Here’s the basic things they said they wanted on an ad I responded to but little did I know this made things look easy and light.

Needs to be proficient in Excel and Access. Must be able to coordinate meetings/training activities, develop action plans, set up a tickler system, and utilize all programs.

Basically i’ll be working for the lady that reports to the Director and Assistant Director of Child & Family Services who report to the Governor Smile She is in charge of many different people who need to stay on task with certain projects / meetings / training schedules etc. I’d be supervising them and making sure they are staying on task and with their deadlines. Also, handling meetings at the State building, making sure meetings are setup, coordinating those that need to attend, handling minutes and keeping my boss on schedule. She is currently working on the budget that is due this week in front of the legislature. The amount of things she is part of from grant writing, child abuse & neglect cases, budgeting, training is insane. I dunno how she does it.

Plus, I’d get to travel to Vegas possibly for overnight trips. Smile

Overall, I am stoked about this opportunity. It pays WAY WAY better then what I make now. The office is full of extremely friendly women. They were all chatting with me when I came in. She said that I was the first person out of 5 interviews that had the needed technical skills that she needs and type of experience with my accounting background etc. She asked how soon I could start and send that she just needed references to check as soon as I could get them to here then she mentioned the steps to get me set up with payroll for the state. It sounded very promising !!!!! I told her i’d get my references over this afternoon and she was very excited so i’m hoping this is a good sign. *cross fingers* I really hate getting my hopes up but this chance is one in a million really. I let my references know they’d be getting a call today / tomorrow etc so hoping they make me sound like a saint. hehe

So keep your thoughts with me over the next few days!

The past few weeks have been rough to say the least but we are dealing and trying to move on. I’ve had a job intervew already on Monday, have another scheduled for next Tuesday. Not sure about the job from Monday as i’m not sure if I can see myself doing that line of work and really I don’t want to settle so we’ll see if they call me back. Next Tuesdays sounds a little more fun and I applied for another today that sounds very nice. I’m trying to just deal with my job daily and not let these people who could care less about me bring me down any further. It’s a never ending battle and with the lack of challenging or steady work, i’m forced to watch the clock tick slowly away.

On other not so drab news:

We signed the refinance papers on the house so we dropped almost $400 off!!! Our house was appraised at $275,000 now so we built some very nice equity on it!

Patrick suprised me with a trip to the 1801 Inn in Napa Valley for Valentines Day - we will be going there for Easter Weekend. Here’s the link to the cottage/house that he reserved: 1801 Inn - Carriage House
Here’s the cute picture of the front of the bed&breakfast main house.

WoW mumble jumble cut out for those non-geeks:

I cannot wait for the trip and so need a vacation away from all of this!!!! I’m thinking of starting to paint parts of our house on the weekends as therapy of sorts. That is, if I can pull myself away from WoW. I really haven’t talked of WoW much but I am playing and part of Team Ice and we have been whooping arse lately. We are playing on a PVP server on the Horde side and if you know WoW at all, you know there is some bickering about alliance vs horde for big boss mob fights mainly due to the whole Paladin issue. IMO, alliance have it nice with Palys and they will deny how much they really do add to raids but they really do. Alliance will fire back a comment about Horde having Shamans and Totems. Well Totems imo aren’t near what paly spells are in raid situations. Those that don’t play on a pvp really have no clue how much time it takes to level when you are being ganked or well killing someone in the way :) I love it and am by no means complaining, more just saying how it is a longer process and well more challenging. You can’t exactly run into STV and start questing. It’s more like trying to live to even get the quests at the camp and then watching your back while doing them. I wanted a challenge and something other then what we did in alpha/beta and oh god did I get it. I’ve practiced my pvp skills against guildies to see how to beat the different classes and god shadow/disc priest is pretty nasty for pvp.

So, on another note, our server we’ve had the rivalry (probably more so then non-pvp servers) about who is killing what first. We did down Lucifron x 2 times this week and are the first Horde guild on the server to do so. We did it with only 6 priests and 33 people with 1 death, which is a very nice low number. Most guilds I know are full or having to turn away a few people even to the raid groups. Without playing the “my penis or boobs (in my case) are bigger contest” I’ll just say that we are kicking arse. The whole guild minus I think 2 new recruits from this week are Onxyia keyed. We hit her up last weekend and play on *cross our fingers* knocking her dead this weekend. I love playing a priest in raids and btw raidbar is amazing. I did create a Shaman alt for giggles that i’m trying to play with some guildies when I have time. Welp, enough of the geek talk and back to work.
