when you have to work and not sleep in and cuddle up on the couch!

The past few weeks have been pretty uneventful. Bought our new living room set (see pics below) after I got my raise. I got flowers from my -inlaws as congrats which were beautiful (pics below)l!! Went shopping for 2 more pillows from Pier One for the couch and misc. clothes, Ipod car adapter and Turkey day serving dishes that I was lacking. I’m still searching for some colored shaped dishes to use as salad dishes on top of my plain white dishes I have already. I just don’t want my whole table to be white..neeeeed some color.

Turkey Day is fastly approaching and I haven’t even started to think about the menu, the grocery list etc. Our new kitten will be here too and I can’t wait to finally see her all fluffy. The last time I saw her she was only a week old and basically looked like a rat. I’m more excited to see all our family and share time with them. I miss them a lot and feel so well homesick / familysick at times.

Work - as always things aren’t what they seem and the change to marketing isn’t in my near future as i’m doing Mrs. Q’s job since Mrs. L came back last week and layed her off first thing Monday morning. Word is now that Mrs. Q is going to slap the company with a sexual harassment lawsuit and wrongful termination but who knows. I guess i’m just doing the usual wait and see game on all fronts. I’m happy about my extra money but NOT happy about the extra work from Mrs. Q.

So i’m on cloud 9 right now to say the least! Last week the owner told me he’d be in town this week and wanted to sit down and talk with me. Well he arrived on Tuesday and was jam packed with meetings then had a rough nite Wed. out on the lovely town of Reno. Needless to say, he didn’t join the living until Thursday around 1pm so he headed into the office to meet with me. He was originally supposed to fly out on Wed. but stayed an extra day to meet with me.

I had to come to the meeting with a spreadsheet of my daily tasks I do for work, with approx hours for the tasks and deadlines. I think he was a bit suprised at the range of tasks I do besides just “billing” which most seem to think is the only thing I do here. Anyhow, basically he said that he’d like me to hire a part-time 2 day, 16 hours only a week person to do my billing This would leave me open to slide into the position he wants me to be in…MARKETING!!!! I’ve been wanting to get into that for a while now and finally it’s my chance. I’ll be taking back over the websites for the 3 companies, doing the advertising, marketing etc etc for the 3 also. It’s a huge step in the right direction and i’ll finally be able to put my degree stuff to work. I’m needing to hire someone RIGHT away for this billing so I can jump in fast. Our San Jose office is moving locations and one of the companies is changing names so everything will need to be redone as far as letterheads, forms etc. Then there’s the whole issue of “lack of advertising” here at this office. I’ll be working on his special projects along with the marketing. This could mean flying to San Jose from time to time..no problemo!

I couldn’t be anymore excited. The raise was the first thing brought up and taken care of. I’m now much happier and in 6 months i’ll be getting another raise.

Turkey Day is sneaking up on us and I have enlisted my step-mom to send me recipes for things to cook as side dishes. My mom is going to be crucial in the cooking of the actual Turkey. I have to buy an aerobed thing for the office for one of my brothers to sleep on since the guest room will be my parents and the pullout couch my other brother.

Btw, i’m in LOVE with the new Mustang. I said I wanted a Mazda 6 but god I want a Mustang. I told Patrick this and he suprised me by actually calling to inquire about them. Welp, they won’t let him use the GE discount on them since they are in such demand right now. *sighs* My salesguy came in today with the dealer pamphlet on them telling me how he went to look at one and is buying one. *sighs* I want one!!!!!!! Guess i’ll just have to deal with my Mazda 6. Maybe we can just lease my Mazda and then in a few years buy me the Mustang? I dunno but it’s HOT!

Think tomorrow we are heading into Reno and going to have dinner then see the Incredibles. I may have to drag Patrick off first to do some window shopping as we haven’t been in Reno in ages. It’s nice to finally have stores in Carson so we don’t have to drive all the way there to shop though. Finally went to the In & Out Burger they put in town. I LOVE them and was excited to see this area get one. Only time I could have them before was when we’d take trips to California. At at them twice during my San Fran trip.hehe

Well, just about off work thankfully! Weekend here I come TGIF!!!
