Thursday, July 15th, 2004Fire latest from the Nevada Appeal this morning at 8:
Waterfall Fire update 8:45 a.m. Thursday:
-8,500 acres burned, 0 percent containment
-850 firefighters on the scene
-Nine homes, two businesses, eight vehicles destroyed
-Four firefighters, 1 civilian injured
Basically it’s still uncontrolled and burning pretty wild, the wind has picked up again in the past hour. It was calm as could be first thing this morning. It’s burning south, which means it’s not so close to this part of town. I wasn’t too worried about where we live because I just couldn’t see the fire crossing this far into the city. Sadly, it did cross into parts of southern Carson and the auto shop we use for our work trucks was one of the buildings burnt down. Carson City isn’t as big as people would think. It’s a pretty small town for being the capital
I dumbed out last night and figured i’d go get quarters to do laundry. DUMB DUMB move. I was driving to the grocery store up the street and they had that street blocked off and routed me around which basically had me all over downtown trying to turn where the waving policemen would direct me to. This little shopping trip ended up being an hour long drive around the city before finally ending up at the grocery store. One of my pics was taken from the parking lot of that store. I did turn it into a productive trip with buying supplies for our honeymoon like suntan lotion, aloe vera, tylenol, little travel size bottles etc.
It stinks so bad
and our apt was all smokey smelly.
Today is sushi for lunch, if we can drive downtown to meet up with my old co-worker Liana.
Now, back to work because i’m so swamped here trying to get people trained, my billing done and as much as I can done before I leave so they aren’t completely screwed while i’m gone.

Thanks for all the kind thoughts to my lj friends
I just feel horrible for the families that are put out from this and the ones that have actually lost their homes. My thoughts and prayers are with them.
