So finally I have a little calmness to type more since I was
drawn away to WoW. I go through phases
where I’m sucked in and then when I just don’t feel like playing. Right now, it’s a great distraction plus they
opened up a pvp server which we are going to try after we level up our current
characters. I went home during lunch
today to help Rombus get his Team Ice guild charter finished up and grab some
food but really that’s the entire break I’ve had today to do mindless non-work
things.
*all this wow talk and I’m sure my friends and family that
aren’t computer savvy are sitting here going what in the world is she talking
about*
Now onto the San Francisco
trip details! I’m
not all that great of a writer sometimes, especially at work but here
goes. I’m going to cut stuff out and well I was going to put pics
in between what I was talking about but for some reason LJ isn’t
letting me atm so I will post a new thing later with pics.
We left around 7:00pm Friday night, which I so didn’t want to
leave that late but in the end it didn’t really matter and was probably for the
best as Saturday morning we actually weren’t hung over…unlike Sunday. On the way we made a stop at the “In and Out
Burger†in Auburn, CA
(guess it’s a tradition of sorts for Liana and I’m sure my new tradition). I was surprised to find it such a happening
place but it was damn good and a needed break in the drive. We were then back on the road and somewhere
along it Patrick’s friend Mike called inviting
us to a party in San Fran. I told him
I’d call once we got closer, unfortunately because of our In and Out stop and
traffic I had to call him back later to tell him that I didn’t think we’d get
in at a decent time.
After crossing the Bay Bridge we worked our way through
the maze of one-way streets to get to our hotel. The Chancellor Hotel
www.chancellorhotel.com is a great
hotel down around Union Square
with good rates and Valet Parking was included with our room rate for
only $10
extra. This isn’t a ritzy hotel, but
definitely a comfortable, quaint, friendly hotel in a great location.
We really didn’t spend much time there but to
sleep/pass out. We got settled in around 12:30
and decided we wanted to get a drink before calling it a night.
Unfortunately bars close at 2:00 there so we asked the guy at the front
desk where we could get a beer. He
suggested an Irish Bar down the street some.
I’m all about the Irish bars typically BUT this one was another
story. We walked in to see older couples
dancing (very badly, might I add) and we worked our way down hesitantly
down to
the end of the bar. I figured we might
as well get a drink before leaving. I
was drinking my Guinness when this old Irish man (apparent by his
accent)
approached us and started asking us how we were. Next thing I know we
have another drunk Irish
man next to us. Between the drunkenness
and his accent I could barely understand the perv. I think we both
just wanted out of there
before he decided to drag us off to the dance floor. Off to bed we
went.
Saturday was a busy day. We woke up fairly early and walked
out of our hotel welcomed blue skies and sunshine. Stopping by a café for coffee and a bagel
before starting our day of playing tourist.
Liana, luckily for me, has been to San Fran a few times so she played my
co-pilot navigating me through the streets very safely and without to many
tries around the block to get on our way.
We headed first to the Golden Gate area stopping
by a beach, then to the Fort Scott
area.
The whole time I kept thinking about how beautiful it was
and how nice it must be to just wake up on a Saturday morning and jog along the
waters edge. *dreams off for a
moment* I had many of these moments
while in San Fran. The ones where you
just wish you could live a different life in a different city …only if money
was no object.
Next stop: Sausalito
for some shopping. I bought this great
print with a wine theme from a humor artist’s gallery to put in our house’s
kitchen! I also bought some random little
things for my bridesmaids little bags.
The city just had me drawn in. I
so want to live in a little waterside town like that. So relaxing and I love the little cafes street
side that people just sit and enjoy the day.
By this time we were starving so decided to head back into the city and
make our way to the Wharf for lunch.
After a brief stop to refresh ourselves at the hotel we
headed down to the start of the cable car line to be greeted by an hour long
line. The cable cars are still impressive
to me and so fun to ride. I could just
see myself living in one of those cute little houses along the way and taking
the cable car, trolley, riding my bike or walking around on the weekends. The hour wait paid off with us arriving down
by the wharf/Pier 39. We made our way
over to the Hard Rock for some needed lunch.
By this time it was around 4:00pm
and starvation was kicking in. Our
dessert was awaiting us at the Gharidelli Ice Cream Shop where I had a very
berry sundae. By the end of all that our
feet were well past sore and working towards the “I cannot walk any furtherâ€
stage.
We made our way back to hotel and refreshed with some
showers we were ready for a night out on the town. After walking around the block, finding some
not so great bars we grabbed a cabby and asked him “can you please take us to
some bars where young people areâ€. Ok,
that was Lianas idea but damn it worked!
He drove us to Union Street where there were numerous bars to choose
from and I don’t know which one we even ended up at but there’s this bartender
Pete that kept the drinks flowing nicely.
There was a bachelorette party there who somehow found out I was engaged
also and some strange guy kissed my cheek was that was made aware to everyone
around us. It was a wild night starting
off with shots of jager and rumplemeinz then getting tossed jello shots from
Pete mixed with my Fat Tire resulting in a very long painful night.

The next morning our painfully hung over arses woke up to
order room service and take showers in hopes of bringing our bodies back to
life. That didn’t work so well but what
could we do but check out and go play tourist some more before driving
home. We visited Lombardi
Street, making our way down while Liana hung out
the car taking pictures and then made our way over to Steiner
Street where the Victorian houses are. 3 ½ hours later we were in Reno
waiting on Patrick’s plane from Vegas to
arrive.
It was a LONG LONG weekend but oh so fun and I plan on going
to San Fran way more often now that I realize how short of a drive it is over
the Sierras.
All the while typing this our power has surged 3 times and
it looks like it’s going to just downpour soon.
Guess this is enough rambling for now!
